Samsung Launches Gear IconX Truly Wireless Earbuds at Rs 13,990 in India

Samsung Gear IconX 2018 was launched in India on July 26. The truly wireless Gear IconX earbuds are specially designed for customers who are always in action. The earbuds are launched to compete against the likes of Apple’s AirPod and other truly wireless sport earbuds. Priced at Rs 13,990, the Gear IconX earbuds offer features such as standalone music playback and 4GB of in-built storage, out of which 3.5GB is available for storing music files. According to Samsung, “Gear IconX provides an upgraded music experience” with the presence of several new and improved features.

Samsung India’s General Manager, Aditya Babbar said, “Gear IconX brings a lot of enhancement besides completely cord-free usage, including Bixby voice commands, activity tracking and, most importantly, the music experience. These lightweight and comfortable earbuds are an ideal music companion for consumers, could be a dancer, painter, chef and anyone else, who needs tangle-free movement of their hands, while he/she is working. It also has special features for the fitness enthusiasts.”

“A lot of consumer insights have been incorporated in terms of design aesthetics, comfort and usability of these earbuds. For example, a touchpad eliminates the need for keys or press buttons that is uncomfortable and irritating for the users,” he added.

Samsung Gear IconX Features and Price

Samsung Gear IconX earbuds connects over Bluetooth 4.2 to deliver calls even calling out incoming calls, messages and notifications. The Gear IconX also supports Samsung’s Bixby voice assistant to control music, place calls or even put out a message without the need of having the smartphone nearby. To activate Bixby, the user has to just tap and hold the touch button on the Gear IconX earbuds. The earbuds also feature USB 2.0, accelerometer and proximity sensor. With fast-charging support, Gear IconX can offer a battery life up to 5 hours of music streaming or 7 hours of standalone music playback, according to Samsung.

The available inbuilt storage on the earbuds can be loaded with music either wirelessly or through smartphone or PC using a USB cable. The touch based gestures on the earbuds can be used to play, pause, skip or browse the loaded music playlist. Gear IconX features equalizer which allows to choose from five presets such as Bass Boost, Soft, Clear, Dynamic and Treble Boost, to enhance the music experience by adjusting audio frequency to optimal levels.

Gear IconX features a new ambient sound function which enables to choose or specify how much ambient sound should be let in from the earbuds, thereby making it easier to pay attention to the surrounding sounds.

The earbuds come inside a case which doubles up as a power bank, providing it one additional battery charge. Samsung claims that a 10-minute charge to Gear IconX will result in 1 hour of uninterrupted connectivity. Gear IconX also pairs up with tracking devices like Gear Fit 2 Pro and Gear S3 Frontier for activity tracking with its own inbuilt capabilities. The earbuds can be synced with Pace Setter feature on Samsung Health platform which work as an in-ear running coach.

Pace Setter allows to choose from various preset activity programs from ‘Light walking’ to ‘Speed Endurance’ to custom creating programs on their smartphone.

The Samsung Gear IconX truly wireless earbuds measures 21.8×18.9×22.8mm and weighs in at just 8 grams. The earbuds will be available for purchase via retail outlets, Flipkart and Samsung’s online shop at Rs 13,990.
