After the successful launch of Treats and Gold memberships, Zomato has rolled out another loyalty rewards program, Piggybank for its users. Piggybank will allow its users to earn reward points as Z Coins into their Zomato Piggybank for every order placed using the Android app. This feature is rolled out to only a select number of users (10,000 users as of now), on the basis of their loyalty and the geographic availability of partner-restaurants. As per the company, the membership program will be extended to all the loyal users within two weeks. This, Zomato says, will be done once it partners with more restaurants across India.

Zomato added that customers, who order at least five times per month through their app, will be liable to earn back 10% of the order value on each meal as Z Coins. Earned Z Coins can further be used to pay 10% of the next order placed at any Zomato restaurant-partner. The 10,000 users will also be provided with a joining bonus of 200 Z Coins, equivalent to Rs 200. Also, Zomato Gold users will have an early access to the Piggybank within the app. The use of Z Coins for food orders will not disrupt the availability of other discounts offered by Zomato.

Other Zomato users can be a part of the Piggybank even if they are not a part of the initial invitation list. This can be done through a reference by someone already having access to Piggybank. Zomato will also allow its users to donate for social causes through this reward program by virtue of its association with the Akshaya Patra Foundation, one of the leading NGOs providing mid-day meals to children.

Zomato also stated that it promises to donate Re 1 per order on the behalf of its users for this. In its blog, Zomato quoted its CEO Deepinder Goyal saying, “If all orders at Zomato were placed using Piggybank points, we would be donating Rs 1.25 crore a month on your behalf to Akshaya Patra Foundation.”

Goyal also said that they will be converting Piggybank into a paid subscription program at Rs 299 per year, after two months. Piggybank is available for select Android users from July 10.
